Lizzie Nunnery
LIZZIE NUNNERY HAS STORIES TO TELL YOU AND A VOICE TO MAKE YOU LISTEN.
One of the country's most exciting emerging playwrights, at just twenty six she's also bubbling to the surface as one of the most inventive and inspiring singer songwriters of the moment, taking her moving and inventive alt-folk to every corner of the British Isles over the twelve months. The self release of her EP "Monkeys and Devils," in 2006 won her acclaim from artists, venues and reviewers alike with BBC Liverpool naming her as their artist of the month and live performances on BBC Radio 3 and at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall fast to follow. Soaked in folk songwriting tradition and peppered with a poetic wit that resonates in the mind and tugs at the soul, Lizzie has drawn frequent comparison with such groundbreaking artists as Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell and Martha Wainwright, yet the striking elasticity of her vocals and crafted individuality of her lyricism create performances of compelling originality.
The release of her warm and intimate second EP, "Hungry" in March 2008 has helped confirm her reputation as a compelling performer and story teller set to make an impact.
"It is Lizzie's enchanting voice that really draws you in to her sublime world; a fragile tremolo that makes you want to sit close and listen to her stories...It is the title track that impresses the most, with a catchy refrain and dark, menacing accompaniment. This track could well be one of the best songs you'll hear all year."
Mike Wilson, Folking.com on "Hungry EP"
"Nu-folk with a knack for a melody and some quirky lyrics. Lizzie is unique enough to stand out from the crowd but accessible enough to get her noticed on a wider scale. Clever songs, beautifully recorded, perfectly delivered. Who says you cant have it all?"
Liverpool.com Magazine on "Hungry" EP
"Her voice is resolute, her guitar technique admirable and all of her songs memorable...it doesn't take much to convince the listener; just a collection of lovely songs and a spellbinding turn on the ukulele. Very special stuff indeed."

"Hugely impressive lyrics and delicate acoustic backing... the whole production and feel of the disc is much more than you'd expect from a debut release. She's certainly a real talent, and one to watch for the future..."
