Ok Pop Pickers...that old chestnut the Best of The Year top one, three, ten, twenty, fifty, 100 whatever.... has been opened for discussion/submission...fire away....I will be adding mine asap
My first post too. Been a funny year in that I've bought/heard more older CD's that new.
Here goes in no particular order:-
"Consolers Of The Lonely" - The Racontuers
"Accelerate" - REM
"22 Dreams" - Paul Weller
"Evangelist" - Robert Forster
"Stay Positive" - The Hold Steady
"1900" - Caramel Jack
"Fleet Foxes" - Fleet Foxes
"Acid Tongue" - Jenny Lewis
"Only By The Night" - Kings Of Leon
"Micah P. Hinson And The Red Empire Orchestra" - Micah P. Hinson
Oh yes Evangelist will be on my list although more because G.McLennan no more :-( I recently found the Botany Sessions - boot of the album that never was just before they split..fascinating stuff...
I have to agree with Rob on the top ten being a tad negative in some respects. As I am here in my role as founder of the AFcollective (artistic freedom) I would not care to choose a top ten :)
however as a Dj on AFcollective radio station there are Like Rob on his MEDICINE SHOW some artists that I play more than Others.
I would point out that I do play
Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian circus of Dreams regularly on the station (that makes at least 2 radio stations playing them) :)
